Mission Oak Snack Server
This pot is a collaboration between myself and my friend Rose Hardesty, read more about our process beneath the description of this piece!
Rose grew up in California around Spanish mission architecture, which inspired the form of this serving piece! Christina handbuilt this snack server form, and Rose cast the acorn that hangs down and even jingles like a little church bell! Rose applied moth transfers and Christina decorated the piece with red oak leaves. This piece measures 5.25 x 8.5 x 4” All of these pots were fired in a wood burning kiln for 18 hours, with salt introduced to glaze the wares. They are lined with food safe glazes and are meant to be used. We recommend hand washing these pieces to preserve their delicate features; treat them well and they will last for generations of use!
Our process: Rose and I have been firing wood kilns together for the past year and a half and it has been such a great partnership! We’re good at problem solving together, each of us have complementary strengths we bring to the table, and we are both committed to making extremely tasty food at our firings :) When firing a large two chamber kiln earlier this year, we made pots together while waiting the few days it takes to cool before unloading. We combined our building and decorating techniques together to stretch our brains in new ways and had a blast listening to a lot of Joni Mitchell while we did it. Thanks for checking out our collaborations!
