Come on a journey with me! Let's learn about the fascinating history of pottery’s role in shaping the course of civilization and make pieces inspired by indigenous cultures of the Americas! In the American Southwest lesson we'll start with a 15 minute presentation about the Mogollon, Mimbres, Hohokam, and various pueblos. Then using the coil and scrape method we will build an olla pot and decorate it with polychrome designs. For a bonus project we'll also make a Mimbres style bowl if there's time. The class will be conducted via Zoom, with plenty of time for Q&A as well as access to the recordings. After signing up students will receive a Zoom link as well as a course outline that includes a materials list and links to additional bonus videos and articles to add to our discussion.
